We've lost our dog. Luckily he has a tag around his collar and he is also microchipped. It's a smart idea to get your dog microchipped. The microchip is inserted under the skin of the animal. It is done at a veterinarian's office or an animal shelter. It is smaller than a grain of rice and painless. This does not harm the animal is done without anesthesia. If your pet gets lost and is taken to an animal shelter or veterinarian, they will scan for a microchip in the animal's body. The microchip holds the dog's identification code. This code provides the pet's information and your contact information. This implant has reunited many animals with their owners. This implant is not yet universal, but some countries have already made microchipping mandatory.
